Project Big Beaver Falls
The main characteristics of the facility are :
- The powerhouse, intake (75m) and tailrace canal (25m) are located on the left bank of the river.
- The overflow weir is 90 m in length, and is comprised of two 45-m long rubber dams. The concrete base of the weir varies from 0.5 to 1.0 m in height, and is topped with a 2.0-m diameter rubber dam.
- An approximately 700-m long head pond that covers an additional surface area of 0.8 ha. Normal operating level is 221.75 m.
- The powerhouse is equipped with two S-Shape turbines, each with a capacity of 2.75 MW.
